  • Mount Everest is known by many different names; In Tibet it is well known as Chomolungma Or Qomolangma. The Chinese translated this as ShengmO Fcng whereas it is named as Deodungha in Darjeeling that means holy mountain.
  • Mount Everest is rising from 3 to 6 millimeters a year.
  • The time to climb Mount Everest is in early May before the monsoon season.
  • The usual climbing routes Of Mount Everest is The Southeast Ridge from Nepal,called the South Col Route and the Northeast Ridge or the North Col Route from Tibet.
  • The largest expedition to climb Mount Everest was a 410 climber Chinese team in 1975.
  • The safest year on Mount Everest was 1993 when 129 climbers were able to reach the summit and only 8 died.
  • The least safe year on Mount Everest was 1996 when 98 climbers submitted and 15 died. Babu Chiri Sherpa had stayed 21 hours and 30 minutes on the summit of Mount Everest.
  • The country with most death on Mount Everest is Nepal with 47 (as of 2009).
  • Though Mount Everest is known as the highest mountain above sea level, records also show other tall mountains on earth. But when measured from the base, Mauna Kea in Hawaii is considered to be tallest mountain-10,200m from base.
  • A jumping spider lives upto 22,000 feet on Mount Everest.
